The difficulties that is facing the humanity they were not an impediment for La Sergio, an institution with 67 agreements around the world, to continue with its internationalization projects. Proof of this is the decision made by 10 students from France, Santiago de Chile and the interior of Colombia, from Yopal and Villavicencio, to advance their academic Exchange at La Sergio.

During the orientation session, led by the Office of International Relations – ORI, the new Sergistas got to know the campus in Bogotá through digital media, the Institution’s educational project, La Sergio 4.0, the multiple services they will be able to access from their homes and the milestones that make this house of studies as one of the best universities in the country.

“It was a very dynamic and pleasant meeting, all the attendees participated actively. I really liked their good energy and the enthusiasm they showed for starting their virtual exchange, an academic and cultural experience that not all the students are encouraged to live”, said Laura Santana Purcaro, coordinator of the Office of International Relations of the University.

During the session, the students shared their expectations and the reasons why they decided to study at La Sergio. “I wanted to do the online exchange with the Sergio Arboleda University because I found an emphasis in the area of journalism that there is not in my country. I also took this opportunity to know other Latin American cultures”, said Katerina Sofía Vargas Placencia, student from the University of Desarrollo, in Chile.

Despite the distance, these students will have the option of having a “Amigo Sergista”, an initiative implemented by the ORI, in which a classmate guides an exchange student so that his adaptation is more natural.

“I chose Colombia to discover it and I chose La Sergio because I wanted to be in the capital”, was the phrase of Bastien Gómez, a student at IÉSEG School of Management, in France, who is now part of the Master of Management in Production and Operations .

On the other hand, his university colleague, Clémence Marie Fouquet, who joined the Marketing and International Business program, said: “My colleagues have done their exchanges in Colombia and they have told me that they liked it a lot. I am already in Bogotá, I decided to travel because it is ideal to practice Spanish and share with my friends”.

Karol Yesenia Medina Gil, who, from Villavicencio, will join the Social Communications and Journalism program, highlighted the program’s curriculum for the wide variety of subjects, which will allow her to complete her studies.

“From the beginning of the career I felt it was a great opportunity, that’s why I decided. La Sergio is the university where I find the subjects I need to take to finish the ninth semester”, added the student from The Universidad del Meta.

Of course, no everything had an academic character on the orientation session. The students were able to see through their screens some of the most famous tourist sites in the country, as well as a sample of the gastronomic offer that they can find in Bogotá.

Welcome!
